What This Corner of the Internet Is For

A short welcome to this site: what I plan to write about, what I won't, and why I'd rather publish three good essays a year than a weekly blog nobody asked for.

I’ve been meaning to write this for a while.

Not because I think the world needs another personal site. It doesn’t. But I keep finding myself in the same conversation. A friend asks where to eat in St. Louis. A colleague wants to know how I planned for event follow up. Someone texts me “we want to go to the beach somewhere in Florida, help” and I spend forty minutes talking them through it.

I like those conversations. So this isn’t replacing that. But I do notice that I don’t have a great place to put the things down that I want to share.

That’s what this corner is. The professional home for the tools, the event work, and these notes. The travel practice has its own site. Writing is the place I put the things I want to share. Sometimes it’s just for one person. But sometimes, it’ll be for more and I just didn’t know yet.

What I’ll actually write about

Practical stuff, mostly. The city lists I keep texting to friends before trips. How I think about the difference between a trip that’s impressive and a trip that’s actually good. Tools I use. Mistakes I’ve watched people make (and made myself).

Occasionally something that spills over. I lead event marketing by day, and there’s more overlap between planning presence at a trade show and planning a weekend getaway than you’d think. Both are about getting the details right.

And heck, sometimes I’ll write about things that I have fun exploring. Technology, productivity tools, my wrestling with AI, etc.

What I won’t write about

Weekly roundups. SEO-optimized listicles. “Top 10 restaurants in NYC” that are actually just Google results with extra steps. Affiliate link bait dressed up as recommendations.

If you’ve read enough content online, you know the difference between something someone actually wrote and something someone produced. I’m going to try to stay on the right side of that line.

How often

When I have something worth saying. That might be twice a month for a while, then nothing for six weeks, then three things in a row. I’m not going to publish on a schedule just to publish.

If that works for you, you know where to find it.
